The hot weather means that the puppies are more sleepy during the day at the moment, choosing to settle down on the cold floor by the back door, rather than being outside in the heat, and I haven’t had any worries about them becoming dehydrated because they are drinking plenty of water.
The fun begins in the cool of the evening, when they like to collect any stray leaves or beetles and bring them indoors, and last night I laughed until I cried at the sight of a pack of puppies trying to hunt down a dragonfly.
They rush en masse towards me as soon as they see me, which is great, as I don’t think any of them will have a problem with recall, but it makes photographing them nigh on impossible.
Shona is able to jump the barricade at the patio doors as well as the gate to the garden, so she can be with them when she chooses, and she is quick to intervene if she hears a yelp and thinks that play is getting too rough.
